Default Starter Solenoid

I inherited an older G2 (I think). It's ran great for a couple years, last spring I had the starter/generator rebuilt. This year it ran good for a couple weeks, now it won't do anything. I've tested the key switch, and the gas pedal switch they seem to be good, but no power is going to the starter. I replaced the solenoid but that didn't change anything. Any suggestions?

Have you tried to jumper across the solenoid to apply 12volts to the starter. That would confirm if the starter is good or not.

Yes I have. Starter is good. The solenoid doesn't click at all. I tested it before I put it in and it works when tested on the battery.

Did you check both of the fuses? One for positive, one for negative?

Might check negative battery voltage at the small black energizing solenoid lead, you should have full battery voltage off and when you push the pedal, if not a bad ground circuit wire (easy just run a lead from the battery to the solenoid). Check for full battery voltage at the small red wire to the solenoid, should only have battery voltage when key switch is on and you push the pedal. If not, disconect the red lead at the "stop switch and verify full battery voltage is going thru the switch, if so a broken wire in the harness (easy fix, just run a wire from the stop switch to the solenoild and tape it up good). Good luck

OK. So I've narrowed it down to the small black wire, the bottom wire on the solenoid (or least I think I have narrowed it down to that wire). And please excuse my ignorance, but where dose that wire go from the solenoid? I intend to run a new wire but not sure where it goes. Thank you

The black wire is the ground to the solenoid. It goes through the negative fuse, to the battery. Did you check the negative fuse?

Negative fuse? Where would this be? Thanks for your help.

There should be a small black wire coming from the A1 wire on the starter. Follow it back to the fuse.

I found it, and that was it. It was a pain because this thing has been messed with by so many different people over the years, it wasn't a black wire at the fuse and I couldn't find were it was spliced to a different wire. Anyway, thanks for your help.
