2 cycle oil for an air-cooled engine.

Re: eng oil
Yamaha lube just got to expensive and demand was low, so I went to O'rieley's auto parts and picked up a qt ( for an engine rebuild). Said it was desighned for outboards with auto injection and shure enough it was the same greenish blue color also. Like 4.50 a qt

Re: eng oil
NO !! Oil must be for 2 cycle AIR COOLED engine. Outboard oil has better availability but is for 2 cycle WATER COOLED engines. It would probably work, but is not the recommended oil. Yamalube, although pricier, has always worked really well in our G1 runabout. Hope this helps. - RAY

Re: eng oil
If you look at the heat range and "ash content" it was the same as Yamalube.

Re: eng oil
For the G1 engine it won't matter. The only time you might have trouble is if you run it really hard high rpm use in high heat situations. I used Echo brand, for trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws. It's semi-synthetic and designed for air cooled very high rpm running. Don't use the "water cooled" oil for your trimmers, blowers, etc.
