Default 2008 exhaust hot

I have a 2008 and the exhaust seems to get very hot quickly. Just wondering if this is normal or is there something I should be looking at. I recently changed the air filter.

Exhaust system says "Hot" right on top of heatshield, not "cold". The conversion of gasoline into motion involves a lot of expansion, first mixing the liquid gasoline into a large volume of air, creating a flammable mixture. Then, burning it inside an enclosed area, creating a very rapid expansion of the air/fuel mixture. Due to the mix being trapped, two things will happen, it will force the piston to move eventually being converted to vehicle motion, and the second is it will not be able to dissipate all its heat into vehicle motion. So, the leftover "wasted" heat will dissipate out through the engine block, and through the exhaust gasses. Yes, exhaust is hot.

Thank-you. I realize that it does get hot but I guess I was just wondering if it maybe was getting to hot. If it can't get to hot then I guess I have nothing to worry about.

I had a car with a stuck-open fuel injector, the excess fuel was burning in the catalytic convertor and exhaust system (car interior tried to catch fire and sound deadner goop turned into tar pit, where i also found live ammunition, all of this in a jail parking lot). This could not happen with a one-cylinder engine, because if one cylinder was running that much fuel through it, the plug would foul and the engine would stall. With no "working" cylinders to keep the engine running, partys over....

If you run the cart lean then it will get extremely hot and will damage the engine over time.

Sorry but I don't know a lot about them. How will I know if it's running to lean?

You can read the spark plug(s) and get a good idea. Can you post a pic of the plug(s)?
