84 G1 Front Wheel Bearing Replacement Help
Hi guys & gals. I have an 84 G1. Love it, but have never really worked on it in the 3yrs I've owned it. Today the front driver wheel starting acting funny like it was lose. I noticed a bearing ball was out of place which is what i think caused the issue. I removed everything. Once i pulled the last piece off a bunch of bearing balls fell out. I think what is going on is the bottom portion of the bearing is still on the axel and the top is still stuck to the inside of the hub. Any suggestions on how i can remove this? Will all i need to do is get two new bearings and replace?? Will they just slide right on? It sounds like people have been saying they need to be heated or a special tool is required....
Thanks in advance for your help!!! |

Re: 84 G1 Front Wheel Bearing Replacement Help
Your correct, the inner bearing fell apart. To remove the outer race from inside the hub insert a punch into the front of the hub and so that it rests against the back of the race. Drive it out with a hammer. You will have to keep moving the punch around the back of the race so it doesn't get cocked in the hub and jam.
The inner race on the spindle will be a little harder. I think I used a Dremel tool with a cut off wheel to remove mine. You need to cut a groove across the race to that it splits and then the race will slide off. If your good with a cutting torch that will work also but you don't want to get the spindle too hot or cut the spindle. |

Re: 84 G1 Front Wheel Bearing Replacement Help
I will try that thanks.
Are these the two bearings I need to replace? 93306-20437-00 93306-00511-00 Also, I put all the balls that feel out back and put it together. I don't have the parts and need to put it in the garage. Will it work or will i destroy it by running it? |

That bearing is not reusable. Take the parts to a bearing supplier or contact one of the site sponsors for replacement parts. You shouldn't have any problems getting replacements.
