Default I need a lil help with wiring on g1

Bought g1 from a guy to tinker with and wish I haddent now. Got it to just about fire up after messin with it a bit but it never turned over quite fast enough for me, notice starter gen smoked a bit when I tried to start ,bought new one ,installed it, notta. Most likely I wired something up wrong on starter gen but not sure, thought it was pretty straight forward, but all I get is click in the lil point box on fender behind solenoids. Problem lays is someone sometime redone the wiring from the starter back to solenoids and everything in black wires.I did not mess with anything other then starter gen wires. Guess what I,m asking is a simple explanation to where ea wire should run to from starter gen.I have checked fuses, and plug ins, which are dirty and I will clean, but I think I got a wire wrong itself on starter. Recon some one could give me a this wire goes here just from starter -gen to fender? If so you can pm me or here whatever. Thanks

On page #93 of the pdf owners manual, you'll find the wireing diagram. At the passangerside rear fender, next to the back up buzzer, some G1's had a "delay/relay". It would have 2 white wires and 2 black wires (as I recall). Just cut the 2 white wires and butt connect them togeather, there for eliminating that. Good luck

Thank you for your help. I,m trying to do this now but its hot out here in this Ga. sun for this old man. Looking at diagram, right off the jump I seef-2 is on neg. side of battery, so ill change that in min. As I said before someone in years past used all black battery cable, and made mistake on which cable wire went where.Ill fix that as soon as I can and pray it works, my wife is watchin from back window, and for some reason she thinks I,m perfect! The two wires you told me to cut I do not see on this cart as this appears to be as in diagram you sent. If I,m missing it feel free to yell at me and explain where you see it. Thanks again,Paul

Hello I am new to the site so please bare with me. I bought a 1982 g1 Yamaha cart and had a issue with the starting ,had to help it along by turning clutch by hand. I replace the starter and it has not started since. I have been a mechanic for over 30 years. I am lost. All wires from stator or magneto are all there and test ,question where doe the black wire coming out go to. Per wiring diagram it goes to timing plate to the ground wires. Each time I hook to ground wires it blows minus fuse. Please any help will be appreciated
