How to registar a G16 in Washington

New to the game. We have a cart and a bill of sale for a G16 that has not been registered before. We are in the Puget Sound area. The serial number on the drivers side post under the dash is a vertical white sticker with the starting letters JN6-XXXXXX. Is that the number we need to report to the State Patrol? What is the next step?

Our goal is to get the cart licensed as UTV for limited road use in Chelan County. We will need street legal parts. Any suggestions about parts selection and licensing will be appreciated.

I would check the laws before you start spending a lot of money to be compliant. I know that Wisconsin explicitly excludes golf carts from the atv/utv laws.

Not possible to use on roadways legally, I personally have never had issues however I run legal gear minus DOT windshield..

There is legislation here and there to allow ORV to be used in 25moh roads. But nothing offical yet.

They have passed laws at the State level here in Washington State that allow the use of utv/orvs on certain low speed roads. The are regulations as to which County's can allow this kind of use (based on population I think) as well as equipment requirements. This set of laws is not to be confused with golf cart community laws like the one in the City of Chelan and some areas of Douglas County. My thinking is that a cart, once registared will be eligable to fit into the definition of a wheeled all-terrain vehicle and get a tag for use on limited County roads. This is not a "license" like a truck has but rather a UTV tag with an limited County Road endorsement.

Chelan County allows atv and orv vehicles for use on designated roads posted at 35 mph or less by an ordinace passed in 2013. See link above, it tells of the ordinance with a link to a allowed road map.

The DOL above is the Washington Department of Licensing requirements for licensing wheeled all-terrain vehicles for limite road uses. Their definitions of a utility-type vehicle describe could describe a "utilty" cart.

Cool to see it got approved - looks like golf carts just squeak in at over 61" wheelbase.

The issue I see is that - you need to pay on road and off road tax? ****..

What is the insurance requirement do you need the state mandated liability? That makes a expensive on road toy.

I will look forward to your progress here, as well as costs. I just drive unlicensed and don't worry. But would like this for being more official around campgrounds.

The biggest issue I see legally is.. Wsp clearly defines a golf cart and a ATV. The DOL says WATV - so will they define a golf cart as an ATV?

Got the ORV sticker. Now on to the "street legal" stuff.

Working on the brake light setup now using the "50's Chevy" brake light switch. I found that information on this site.

We want to mount the street legal lights without cutting holes in the body. Looking at hotrod, snowplow, tractor and motorcycle lights to mount on the brush guard and rear bumper.

Thinking of using the LiTESeasy Wireless Controller with all the switches mounted to the steering wheel. It consists of a wireless remote control unit that eliminates wires up the steering column. They sell the kits with LEDs but the LEDs are not DOT approved. Their FAQ site says you can run common 12v lights. Anybody have any experience with this device?

hows the legal process going getting the ORV converted to the new street legal-ORV?

specifically could you do it? what taxes or fees was all this, did you need to have insurance on your golf cart to operate on roads?
