Umax spring is for a stock yamaha utility cart such as to haul coolers or equipment (u-max carts). It is a yamaha part. I bought mine at tntgolfcart not a sponsor but have used them for a long time as they are a yami dealer and have all stock parts, sometimes yamaha parts are much higher quality and price not much different. You can change the preload on the umax just like stock, its thicker and longer than stock. You of course can buy it anywhere you like. I also get parts from Boylan sometimes.

It raises rpm at lower speeds and lower throttle so it has more go. It is about like stock at high speeds. A cut sheave helps also if you have larger tires or gears, that gives you a lower gear for climbing and holeshots and it revs faster on takeoff. HD kevlar belt also will help from CPP, I think I bought both of those from CPP (cartpartsplus). Some of the sheaves are thin and cheap reproductions (like on ebay) so watch what one you get. You can use all three or whatever they all help the cart out offroad. The belt is cogged and wider so it rides higher on the secondary and also gives a lower gear and/or helps worn sheaves work better. When they wear it does not shift as well.

I have all three on my clone going to try a new stock spring next and see. Since it has more torque it does not need to rev at low throttle as much so it may work better for what I need. The umax works great on the trail and with stock engines. I have to be quiet at times (at night lol) and is only reason I want to try stock again, my stock spring was really weak it needs replacing. I may end up putting the umax back in will have to find out, I highly recommend it for offroad/towing/lifted carts/etc. Also make sure your clutches are cleaned and lubed and working right (rollers or weights are good). You may not need a spacer for the umax but I would put one on, its the spacer that goes behind the secondary and needed for any aftermarket spring. The snapring on there fails and fails faster with more pressure. Then the secondary rams into the trans case. The spacer sits on the splines so it can't fail or slide back as the splines end there.

I just ordered one from Partzilla.
Also ordered new machined sheave & helix.

What holes do I set the spring at on the helix & sliding sheave?

There is a video on youtube showing the installation of a secondary spring by jakes. The setting determines how the secondary shifts over. The low rpm being B-1 the high setting B-4. So how you use the cart dictates the setting. I assume since you are using the Umax a higher shift point is your goal. Start with B-3 and see where you are. If you are sure you want max low gear running use B-4.

My yamaha manual for the G 14 says B-3. The pics are of the early yamaha produced G 14 trans axle

Good video except he leaves out the nylon washer between the 2 sheaves??
Why?

So which direction do I go to increase low end power?

B-3 isn’t too bad definitely better
I’ve got a machined sheave, Umax spring, HD belt
I also ran the governor nut All the way in.

I assumed I’d at least be able to spin tires in gravel at take off, maybe I’m dreaming.

I know B-4 was said would be the max for low end, but what about A or C ? Which direction on the letter s?
