Default G9 air box

Is there any noticeable power gains in replacing the overly complex and restrictive air box on the g9. I am thinking of just using a k&n type filter connected to the carb throat. Also would this require extensive carb tuning? Just looking for ideas, I guess I'm getting bored around the house.....

Default Re: G9 air box

Without carb tuning, it will barely run without the "factory carefully designed airbox". I tried slapping a k&n on mine, without carb tuning, drove it about 250 feet before going home, and putting it back the way it was.
