Very good question. On the primary clutch (engine) Yamaha recommends...Put the car in nuetral, and brake off...grab the drive belt (on top, between the 2 clutches) and give it a "yank" straight up. This will give you some slack to "roll it out" of the secondary clutch. Take the screws (that hold the cap) off. Turn the clutch so the "zerk" fitting is at 12 oclock. Shoot 1 maybe 2 shots of grease into the zerk. Turn the clutch so the zerk is at 6 oclock, push the clutch towards the engine and "wipe out) any extra greaase you find! The clutch should only have grease on the bushings of the floating flange, if to much grease in the weight/pin/spider/cap area....it will prematurly wear them out and then....you buy new parts and rebuild it. Yamaha di not start building secondary floating flanges with zerk fittings till the G9 model. If yours has been updated, the zerk fitting is in the "tranny" dise of the fixed sheave and 1 to 3 shots of grease shoud do the job. If you hear a "growling" or feel a "vibration" in the seat of you pants...It's useually the bushing in the floating flange or the circlip that holds the spring seat away from the tranny case has let loose. In any case hope this helped. Dave

Thanks for the info Dave!!!! If I feel the "vibration" in the seat of my pants, do I need to order a new clutch and spring from CPP? or what do they call that kit, Torque Kit? What kit will come with ALL the necessary parts to replace/ rebuild my clutch? I would rather order the pre-assembled unit as I have 2 kids and not a lot of "fun" time in my shop. Thanks a million! Hope to hear from you guys soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man you have alot of questions! All of the parts I've purchased from Tom @CPP's are very high quality, You shouldn't go wrong. First you need to see if your "floating flange" has a zerk fitting. If not..buy Toms full kit IE: spacer/torque spring/sheave/belt and puller (money well spent!), you will be able to grease the secondary clutch without taking it all apart. If you have a zerk fitting..and a press...Buy the spacer/tourque spring and a new bushing for the floating flange, but you will still not have a puller to get off the "fixed sheave". On second thought...buy the complete kit...You'll love it! Later Dave

Dave, you seem like a cool guy and I've always been able to take a little constructive criticism..Ya know? ANYWAY , here I go again............... Tightened up my torsion cable all the way(helped a little) Got the good ole' gov. 10mm screwed in all the way, (I guess I have a rev limiter?anyway I can see the cable surging in and out on the carb when cart is up on jackstands and in "neutral", hard on the gas pedal ;any solution?) Still not getting the uphill pulling torque that you guys have me foaming at the mouth for!! I need u to hold my hand again dave and school me on what to do.........Torque Kit? Wait , got another for you...LOL!!!!!! Do I need a kit for the primary AND secondary clutches? Hope not, piggy banks' on the fritz if ya know what I mean!! Dave, tell your "lady friend" thanks for the support and you guys have a ROCKIN' evenin'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Talk to u soon buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It may very well be that one of your primary weights are "exploded" or ready to "blow". When they get "loose" or "let go" this will cause a "surging" situation. Take the cap off the primary clutch and pull on the weights..if very loose..time for the rebuild. You will not go wrong with the secondary upgrade. Later and good night....Dave

Hey Dave...how are you bud.Havent been on in awhile.

Question...

The other morning I jumped on the cart to run to the store. When I accellerated...I had a "growl" an the cart seemed to brake.I backed up slowly then went forward again...an it was fine.Any ideas? It runs fine now...but I think something is not right.I never touched the clutch...ever.Never greased it.
