Cart dies after driving for awhile
I have a Yamaha G1 cart. Everything appears to be working just fine with the cart but when I take it out golfing it seems like after about 8 holes the cart will stop running. It will be going along just fine and then stop completely. I can choke it and get it going a little, but it won't run correctly after that. The cart can sit for a day or so and run just fine, but will still do the same thing. I've cleaned the carburetor and fuel lines, and replaced the fuel filter. Could the diaphragm in my fuel pump be going bad? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Cart dies after driving for awhile
Sounds like the coil getting too hot and shutting down.

Yea, anytime I see "engine runs great for a while and then dies", it's usually due to one of two things, fuel delivery, or thermal breakdown of the ignition.
If the engine runs with the choke, then I'd lean more toward fuel delivery. |

Check the tank venting/cap. Check the fuel and pulse lines they are common to crack with age.

Re: Cart dies after driving for awhile
thanks for all the suggestions. I've replaced the coil, but haven't had a chance to take it out again. if that doesn't work I will definitely check into the crank seals. lots of help and I appreciate it.

I've had issues with debris coming from the tank on my g1 and clogged the fuel inlet of the carb. it would run fine for a bit and then be erratic. Other than that I agree with crank seals. Also make sure its getting oil. Maybe run a little 100:1 mix in the tank for a bit to see if it helps if there are no other issues at hand. I'd find one of those point and shoot thermometers and check the temp of the cylinder head after driving for a while should be around 250 300f or so
