Default G9 Engine (rebuild or replace?)

First off, thanks for the welcome! I need some advice, my G9 burns oil, is it cheaper to rebuild or replace. I know its 8.5 hp, I've seen some 24hp vanguard and Briggs engines cheap here ($500) but the wife will drive and our daughter. So should I go that away or try to hop-up the stocker to 13-18 hp if thats reasonably possiable or detune a 24hp?

my wife, daughter and son all drive my big block cart. in fact my wife wants me to big block her cart. I left the governor on to limit it to 25mph. the difference in torque to carry lots of stuff is amazing

I just done my wife's G9, went .50mm o/s with a new piston kit. I had to turn the governor down to keep it the same speed. It made a big difference, was able to pass other carts going up long steep hills with 4 on it.

What was the cost after having it bored and the new piston kit? Projected hp now?

$80 for parts prob another $50-80 to bore the block

you might only have 6hp if you have low compression. you would go back to the stock 9-10 hp. open up your exhaust and intake and gain another 1-2 hp

I bought a new piston kit, gasket kit, and a new intake valve for $84. Cost $40 for machine work. and about 3 hours and I was driving it around the yard.
