Default G2 secondary clutch

Hey all, I just got back from a 8 day vacation in the mountains and had alot of time to play with my cart. This thing just keeps making me madder and madder, It is a gutless pig. I think one of my problems could be my secondary clutch so I snapped a few pics. How can I get rid of the gap?? I have tried the push, pull, and smack method , also the belt is brand new, 1 1/4 inch wide gates geforce cvt. It seams to runs fine on top end, but on hills and take off my granddaughters 50cc 3 wheeler whoops it.

Your clutch has the super-heavy aftermarket spring (that i dont care for). It has no preload against the ramps, like the stock one did. This is normal for your spring/clutch combo. With that spring it should have decent climbing power. Check out the primary clutch.

I like the UMAX Heavy Duty Yamaha OEM spring, heavier than stock, but not too crazy. I have seen the white spring break the "cut sheaves".

I will have to check out the UMAX spring, I have a feeling the white spring with the v twin will be a little much on the bottom end.

The generic white-spring didnt impress me either, the best way is to call Plowmans, tell Don what you are looking for,and he will set you up properly. The U-max is supposed to work awesome, and the stock spring can be adjusted by clocking the tabs in different location-holes.I run B-2,with a stock spring on my big block.Hope this helps.

My cart's had the umax spring in it for five yrs, I use it in the mountains at 6500 ft elevation, climbing over rocks and such. It runs out of horse power before it runs out of spring. Plowman's spring may be better, but the umax really hasn't failed me yet!!

Another thing I noticed is that it seams to climb better in reverse?? It revs higher and will spin the tires going up hills in reverse, but slow and low rpm on same hill going forward?? If I didn't know better I would think I installed something backwards.

Does this make sense? any ideas?

Timing key might be off a bit? But I think the CDI advances/retards timing, correct? Not sure on that motor. My G1 used to do the same thing and it was the ramps, but the G1 diff spins in both directions. You could check the ramps though. If you are going to a Vtwin, I wouldn't spend a ton of money now, because you may not be able to use the parts with the Vtwin. Take your secondary apart and check it out, look for wear marks, cracks, anything that looks suspicious and post a pic of it.
