Smile Yamaha G29 upgrades

Purchased new gas powered Yamaha G29 that was slower than watching grass grow. Contacted Plowman's Carts and got everything we needed to make it more than usable. Good torque and great speed. He personally took the time to walk through the mechanics of the changes as well as all the needed adjustments. Great help and a team effort on their part. If you have a Yamaha, call him first!

Hi there. I have a "G29A PTV-FI (4 Seater) gas 11.4hp, 4 cyclce, 357cc engine, Fuel Injection System, single cylinder, OHV" on order.

Will certainly contact plowmans as this seems to be the advice in every post here, but in the mean time please can someone give me an idea of exactly what the upgrades are and what sort of performance enhancement I can expect. I have read that the unmodified cart should do around 18mph on the flat and in my community most of the older carts do around 30mph and I would like to be just a little bit faster than this and also to be able to go fast up the hills.

Also, an indication of the $'s involved would be helpful, although I suspect I will pay whatever is necessary as this will be one of my main vehicles (no cars allowed where I live).

A G29, with stock tires, the stock 12:1 gears, and the governor cranked all the way in (or zip-tied) should do somewhere in the neighborhood of between 19 and 21 MPH. Go to 8:1 gears and the speed will jump to the upper 20's to maybe 30. Going to a raised cart with 23" tires will also get you into the mid - upper 20's. Supposedly the fuel injected G29 has a built-in rev limiter in the ECU, so completely bypassing the governor will not allow the same extreme RPM levels that the carb versions had, but that's probably safer for the engine, and you should see some additional speed increases over the numbers with just the zip-tie. Guys with the carb'ed version with larger tires and a bypassed governor are hitting the lower 30's.

So the bottom line is speed costs money. How fast do you want to go? Then call Don.
