G27A Performance Upgrade
I'm a very new member, and this is my first post. Thanks in advance for your input and consideration.
I recently acquired a 2006 G27a Umax. It runs and handles just fine and the drivetrain appears to be bone stock. The only non stock addition to the cart is a heavy duty aluminum cab, with removable doors. The cab and doors have a vinyl coating finish. ( The doors are off, because it is hot now here in Texas) I am sure this added weight really affects the performance of the cart. There are no labels or tags on the cab, and if anyone could supply some information on it, that would be great. Long story short is I would like to increase my top speed and gain some torque without tearing into the engine or changing the gearing in the rear axle. Can I bypass the throttle governor? Can I do something to modify the CVT operation? My plans are to take the turf tires off and install more aggressive tread pattern off road tires, install a winch, and mount a bow rack to the ceiling of the cab, and a rifle rack to the rear wall of the cab. Thanks again. |

Re: G27A Performance Upgrade
Hey, I like that cab! I've never seen one on a Yamaha before. There's a sticky at the top of the page about modifying the governor. Call Don at Plowmans Carts. http://www.plowmanscarts.com/parts_g_16_g_22.html He's got the stuff you need. Tell him how you use the cart, tire size etc and he will set you up with the right package for your situation.
Remove the cover from the primary clutch and inspect the rollers for flat spots. If the primary isn't in the proper condition to begin with, you won't be satisfied with any other mods. To remove the clutch you will need a Yamaha clutch removal tool/bolt. That looks like a great cart. Read everything you can on here about normal routine maintenance and you will be fine. |
