Yamaha G1 goes in reverse but not forward
My Yamaha G1 runs in reverse just fine but when put into forward will just make a clicking noise, sometimes after depressing the accelerator a number of times it does start running, it seems to have got progressively worse. Please check video.

Re: Yamaha G1 goes in reverse but not forward
Welcome to BGW!
It sounds like a dirty FWD solenoid contact. Some are rebuildable, some are not. |

Re: Yamaha G1 goes in reverse but not forward
The one with the yellow wire on it is the FWD solenoid.
REV should have a light blue wire. |

Re: Yamaha G1 goes in reverse but not forward
Thanks 1989Marthon, I am amazed at the knowledge people on this site have in regards to these carts.
What is it that I need to do in order to rebuild this dirty contact? |

Re: Yamaha G1 goes in reverse but not forward
Can you post a pic of the solenoid? Some are not able to be opened. What year is the cart?
If all else fails, you can swap the solenoids so the problem is in reverse until you can either fix or purchase a new one. |

Re: Yamaha G1 goes in reverse but not forward
No need to swap them. The FWD solenoid should be the upper one in your pic.
Take several pics of all the connections. Disconnect the battery. Did I mention disconnect the battery? Oh yeah, disconnect the battery. Remove the wires from the FWD solenoid. There is also a bus-bar that connects the 2 solenoids together. That will need to come off also. Remove the 4 bolts at the outer corners of the solenoid and you should be able to remove the internals to get at the contacts. It looks like the strap connecting the rear of the 2 solenoids needs to be removed also. |

Re: Yamaha G1 goes in reverse but not forward
Please take a look at pics of crusty solenoid contacts, could this be the reason I don't have forward just reverse?

Re: Yamaha G1 goes in reverse but not forward
Yes. Clean everything up and put it back together. If you can get some dielectric grease, apply it to the contacts after cleaning them.
