G-1 Trailer Hitch
I am one of the many proud G1 owners. Still running after about 30 years of service. So ..... I'd like to add a trailer hitch to my cart. Naturally finding one seems to be the impossible task. I have a 4 seater but it was a home built conversion so there is no foot plate. Basically, as far as installation goes it is the stock 2 seater. Just looking for a hitch that is known to fit the G1.
Thanks |

Re: G-1 Trailer Hitch
I don't know for sure, but bet you'll have to have something fabbed. If it were me I'd have someone take one of the square Reese type part that usually bolts to the bottom of a truck bumper and have them convert it to work on the cart.

I found mine on fleabay.

Re: G-1 Trailer Hitch
You don't need much because the cart does not have enough power to break anything. I used a piece of bar stock maybe 3" x 5/16" and welded a small angle to the end that bolts to the rear frame crossbar under the bagwell (on a G9). The other end (having made it the length I wanted, it sticks out past the bumper) I drilled a hole for a ball and another hole closer to the corner on the other side for a lawn trailer pin. Then I welded some small angles on the side with a hole and shot a small bolt into the bumper for extra support. Also bent some rod in a "U" and welded on the bottom for a tow loop or tie down. Has worked great for years I pulled a v8 powered 19' boat is heavy as I recall.

Re: G-1 Trailer Hitch
I have the guy on Ebays rear bumper, battery tray and frame bracket. All his stuff is top notch. The receiver hitch he makes looks nice.

Re: G-1 Trailer Hitch
This is the best one I have. It's mounted to the rear frame with two existing holes. The hitch came with grade 8 hardware.

Re: G-1 Trailer Hitch
Yeah ..... I was hoping to see the ebay hitch mounted so I could make sure it'll work before I make the purchase. Yours doesn't quite look stock !!! :)
What is the draw bar size ? 2" ??? |

Re: G-1 Trailer Hitch
It's the smaller size, what is it a 1 1/4" I think? It bolted up without any modifications. I've hauled a lot of weight with it. I tow a brush mower regularly and have moved trailers full of firewood, prob over 1500 lbs with a round 200-300 lbs tongue weight.
