Default clone crank shortening??

Hello there...Da newbee (3rd post) is lookin for a couple thoughts...iv'e got a clone motor with 1in shaft....i wanna run my rebuilt stock clutch(everything new)...also picked up a tapered spacer...what do u guys think would happen if i ran my clutch on the end of my 1in shaft?.....i have the clearance to move my motor over to adjust the offset...tryin to get away from....CHOP CUT REBUILD (RETAP)......wattdaya tink??

You'll have to make a spacer that will sit behind the adapter and bottom out on the beveled part of the crank. When you torque the clutch down, the adapter needs to bottom out so it can wedge itself between the crankshaft and the clutch. Most people shorten the shaft because the adapters come with a 3/8" spacer.

If you mount the clutch out that far, there might be a lot of stress on the crank side bearing, not sure on this. Lots of leverage there.
