Put more slack in throttle cable so it stopped running(from kack of fuel) b4 the pedal switch stopped it(fuel being fed into motor)....runs so sweet.....now the flat spot should be a fix by drilling out cap and adjust the air screw(hopefully...lol)

Its best to have it run via pedal on the idle screw, leave about 1" travel at top of pedal between running and carb starting to open. You should still be able to get full carb opening that way. Adjust idle slow as you can. Yes its much better with the idle mix opened up. You may have to pull the idle jet and carefully enlarge it a tad, its in the plastic plug under the idle speed screw. Its very tiny, don't make it much larger, I pulled a wire through it and that did enough, then your mix screw will work better.

Unfortunately if you hog the main to get lots of power WOT it will get too rich at 1/8 throttle about is my experience. You still need to richen the idle to get good starting and prevent popping when you let off at speed. I plan to get a better carb when I get to that point, after playing with my clutches.

Hey Show...i pulled out the plastic idle jet...took a set of torch tip cleaning wires....found the one that just passed through the jet....then i went one size bigger wire(to open up hole a little)....i still get backfiring on letting off....do i dare go one more bigger???....if i take off on flat ground runs good....if i stop on a hill...i have to feather the throttle to get it to start pullin( sometimes the cart even rolls backwards sum)...wadayatink?

That jet is for max flow, you still need to use the screw by the intake spacer to adjust how much fuel flows. You have to enlarge the jet because if you turn the mix screw (the capped or missing one on stock carbs) all the way out you don't get enough fuel, when you enlarge the jet the mix screw has more range and then can get rich enough. One size should be enough. I had to buy a cheap ($5? on ebay) carb kit to get a good idle mix screw they broke it off in there. Had to dremel a slot then heat it with a solder gun to loosen the loctite. The second clone I did they capped it just drilled it out and screw was behind it. Mine starts in 18F weather if I want to sit there feathering the throttle for a minute, but my choke is hooked up. Never use the choke in summer it starts up quick.

Gold on left is where it is for both clones I did. Looks like the cap mine had on it, drill that out hope there is a screw under it and you will be in business! Note that only affects the idle mix, once you open the throttle about 10% it does nothing more that is the main jet behind the bowl bolt in the bottom of carb.

When I drilled mine part way through it just fell out on me, so take it easy.
