I don't have the lines yet to hook up and was worried about the same thing.

The volume ratio between the M/C and the calipers is what you are talking about and it might give me trouble also because I'm only running three calipers.

Considering the weight of the cart, I'm hoping the 1" M/C bore I will be ok. I might be able to change the throw ratio at the pedal for more leverage but if not I will have to drop my bore size to maybe 3/4".

Kinda shooting from the hip on this one.

For the followers of this thread and interested on the golf car brakes, I got some pictures on the new front disc kit from Jakes, just drop me a PM and I will send it to your mail.
I don't want to publish pics here as I don't want troubles with my provider or Jakes.
Jakes will publish this brakes on their site sometime around spring/summer 2008.

As far as I see o this pictures, I guess san clemente's kits looks better... just my personal opinion based on pictures only.

Pictures look interesting. for someone like me who is rough on there cart, I am not sure they would be the best choice.

It seems they bring some lug nuts which can also act as spacers, probably 1 inch.
As for the spindles, they should offer an option where you can actually lift the front if you want.
This way they should sell "front disc brakes with spindle lift" sort of, then for that price it would be a good price.
Forgot to say that in the brochure it is stated:
"This is a sophisticated system. We pre-charge every kit to save you massive 'break' (textual, sic) bleeding"

EDITED:
I just figured the disc goes behind the hub, the bolts included are to replace the existing bolts and to hold the disc.
I guess that this way the "for lifted kit" could be adapted to any kind of spindle...

So far so good my san clemente disc brake kit works great with a little
modding from a dumb old Yuma boy!!

pro of jake's brakes:
.lower price, although not much significant
.minimal work of installation for having front discs
.ventilated discs, lightweight
cons:
.only front discs
.will work only on proprietary spindles.

pro of san clemente's:
.4 disc brakes
.rugged construction
cons:
.more detailed work and mods to be done for installation.
.will need to send them spindles for reworking or buy modified spindles.

Both will need 10 inches rims or bigger, 12 inches recommended.

ted4420, welcome to BGW... by the way, roady is one of the admin of the site, and certainly he knows where San Clemente is located!
Anyway, this an old thread...

Ted do you have something to see with San Clemente? if so, introduce yourself then!!!

PS. somewhere at BGW you can actually find the link to the san clemente web site, surely we all know where they are located as we all need more braking power on our toys!!!
