Contacting the Florida Drag Strips
This is a copy of the E-Mail I have sent to Lakeland, Gainsville, Orlando, and Clearwater. Hope to hear from them, If anyone has any ideas to add to what I've sent, I'll give you the address, and it would probably help if more than just me contacted them.
We have a group of 25 to 30 carts, we have been traveling all the way to Douglas Ga. Douglas Motorsports Park to race the 1/8th mile asphalt, we would like to have the opportunity to race at your track since it's in Central Florida and a lot closer to all of us. We have our carts in 3 classes, Stock, Pro modified, and Super pro. Lately we have had to run the Dirt Drags at Sumter Motorsports Park, Samsula Dirt Drags and Rennigers Dirt Drags. Dirt is ok but some of us have carts that don't like dirt, like Krazy Karts in Jacksonville, they have an electric cart that runs in the high 7 second 1/8, the same with my cart, I have mine setup for asphalt. Our Super pro class have roll cages, 5 point harness, Hyd. brakes all wheels, and DOT tires except for our slicks, and we all wear helmets. I have videos of our racing in Douglas on DVD if you would like to see that first, I would be more than happy to give you a copy. Golf Cart racing is catching on big right now and we are a crowd pleaser, wheelies, burnouts, and carts that the everyday person can build. We have sponsors that will come to the track with us if that is within the rules. Please let me know if I can get the DVD to you, and I hope you are interested in maybe letting us in on a weekend. Thank you. Jeff Bentley. Hope this works. |

Re: Contacting the Florida Drag Strips
I just got off the phone with the track manager from Lakeland, WOW! he was quick to call, he wanted to know more about how we ran the classes, I told him bracket racing and heads up fastest and gave him the BGW web site to look at. He asked if a meet in June would be OK, I told him that it probably would be fine that way we could get the word out in plenty of time. ANY input would be welcome so let me know and when he calls back Tuesday or Wednesday I can give him a "yes or I don't know". So lets go burn some rubber.

Re: Contacting the Florida Drag Strips
I'm thinking about an E-mail petition, if we all send them an E-mail maybe they'll get the message. Also I guess we need to round up some sponsors, he didn't talk like there would be anything for prize money, or we can race for fun, I just want to see how fast it is now.

Re: Contacting the Florida Drag Strips
Rifter,
As I have said before, you are a great writer. I like what you have written and we are very pleased to have you and Krazy Karts there to "carry the torch" for so many of us. When Mike and I got into this we had no idea how it would catch on. We are so grateful for the ones like Samsula, Douglas, Rennigers, and Sumter for giving us these venues to show our stuff. I really think this is just the beginning of something big. We are all in it for the fun and we sure have had our good share of it. If Lakeland does come back with an option for a June race date, maybe we could shoot for the first or second Saturday so it is not taking us away from the places that have set us up on a regular race schedule and been so good to us (Bandit Mud Racing). Just my two cents. I think the sled pulls are in the daytime so we could still get to Lakeland from Zellwood on the second Saturdays, right (EZ Money?). "Just my two cents". We will miss you this Saturday at Rennigers, have a safe trip. Thank you again Rifter and Calllen9 and dirtysouth for taking your time to explore new options for all of us. If Lakeland comes through, that would be ideal for many of us in the Central Florida area. I think it could be a great turn out. |
