Re: WTB: Jake's Long Travel Chrome shocks
I just upgraded my shocks to the New shocks that Jakes makes for the long travel, they are sweet. I don't know if mine were sagging but I had to mount the new shocks one hole higher for the same ride height and there aluminum with replaceable hiem joint ends so no more wore out bushings.

Re: WTB: Jake's Long Travel Chrome shocks
I broke one of the heim joints that holds the top of the spindle but they are a common size and was easy to fix. I did not replace any of the joints this time but I did replace one of the boots on the steering rack and the top plate with the "J" cnced into it that the top of the shocks bolt onto was bent so bad (I guess to many wheelies) that I replaced it and bolted on an additional brace across the back to help keep it from bending again.
The new shocks are around $198 for the pair and be sure to ask for the top mounting bolts as the new ones are shorter than the original. |

Funny, but I just ordered the shocks and new front bads for my brakes, you said you had to go up one hole for the top bracket.

I believe my heims should be good, I ride only street and no jumps, roads pretty flat here at the beac.

Re: WTB: Jake's Long Travel Chrome shocks
With the old shocks I was maxed out with the lift but with the new shocks I mounted it one hole up from the bottom and I think I am still just a little higher than when I started. Since I have rubbed in the front once in a while in rough terrain I think I will go to the bottom hole and make a new set of shackles for the rear to level it out. Then I can fit the bigger tires I have been looking at

Everything is pretty flat on this side of Florida as well but we have a couple trails that a bunch of us in the neighborhood like to ride and there are some areas that can cross up your suspension so there is the occasional rub.
When I had mine apart everything seemed to move freely and all the joints felt fine. |

I watched a video and they even show to go up one hole for the top mount. I looked into stainless heims and bolts to replace, but at around 60 a piece LOL , just for the heims, a wire brush a little paint and clear coat each year will be alot cheaper.

I've still thought about stainless bolts, but grade 8 are real expensive.
