Default Harley 6 7/8 Long head studs

Help! I need 4 6 7/8 in studs for My 1976 Harley Davidson engine. I had a crashed crankcase and the replacement did not come with the right studs. I know they are not difficult to make but I would prefer not to do so since good round 5/16 round rod is hard to find here. I am hoping someone has trashed crank cases with those studs I could remove.

The studs are the intake manifold studs. I probably should just try to find quality steel round stock in 36 inch pieces. So far locally I can get it in 10 foot sections.

I also could use a clutch side of the crankshaft!

I have a 1968 low compression head engine that is rusted all to hell inside. If I can get it apart for you I can send you those parts. Or I can ship it to u and you can have a try at it.

I might be able to get it apart so if you want to just send it like it is and I will have a go at it. I will send money for shipping. Make arrangements and I will do the same. I would like to get my engine working this summer. PM me with the info. Thank you!

I need to work on getting it apart. The lower end seems to have gotten water in it and is stuck SOLID! I pulled the carb and reed plate off and its all full of rust. If I can get the cylinder off I could split the cases. The cylinder studs are different on 2 of them cause thats where the stabilizing rod attaches to the head. PM me a phone # and I can send some photos of what I got.

If you want to save the cases a good way to loosen the head nuts is to heat them a little hotter than a cherry red and twist off with a socket and extension. They should come off easily. My cousin in a muffler showed me this way to remove rusted exhaust manifold nuts. I can receive photos by e-mail not phone. I will PM you tonight.

Also you can soak the entire engine in vinegar for a while (week or more) and this will tend to cut the rust.

I am tryin the molasses rust removal trick. Cylinder head came off no problem, jug is stuck tight. removed the reed plate and lower end had water intrusion and is solid rust. filled it with molasses water and have to wait a couple weeks and see if i get it apart. I will keep ya posted!
