DPI 48-V golf cart batt charger
Ok guys, I have a DPI 48-volt battery charger that came with my EZ-GO TXT when I bought it in 2008.
The charger has provided me with great service on the original 6, 8-V batteries and on the replacement ones of 8, 6-V T-105's that I installed in 2012. This is model number 48014-04, and as you can see from the pic's below this one does NOT have that fancy little do-dad gauge that the new models have. The only reason I'm selling it is because of my successful upgrade to lithium batteries. This DPI charger is one "heavy brick." I'm guessing it weighs about 35-40lbs and because of the weight, it's likely gonna cost $40 or more to ship it. Oh....the plug is shown below. So, I'm asking $100 for it.....and that includes the shipping!! As I stated it's been a great charger and has never failed to bring my batteries up to proper charge levels. Sold as is. No warrantees expressed or implied. (You know....standard disclaimers) |

Re: DPI 48-V golf cart batt charger
Well, quite honestly I really don't know. I ran my cart just about every day, or at a minimum every 3 days. So, when I came back it was just plugged in to get recharged.
I did a google search and found this http://www.dpipower.com/store/MNUL/General_Chargers.pdf but those "Part Numbers" they reference are close to what is on my charger.....but not exact. I put a call into DPI tech support......but my call was at 4:25pm EST, and they close at 4:30pm EST. Ghee.....why didn't they answer the phone?? I'll call 'em tomorrow. BTW, the units MFR MOD is 1-48014c19-004. I dunno how clear that is on the pic I posted, so I went to the garage and looked. I'll post when I know. |

Re: DPI 48-V golf cart batt charger
Okay. My current old style dpi that floats will be sitting just under 2 volts above a full charge when I come back after a week and that is what I am looking for. When you came back to yours was the transformer still buzzing?

All I can tell you is when the charger was finished, the only light that was on was the green "Charged" light. No buzzing of the charger.

Re: DPI 48-V golf cart batt charger
Well my father’s old dpi did the same but it actually is floating. I guess the only real way to tell is if it is plugged up at the end of a charge. Or if dpi answers the phone. I will say I did have to contact them the other day because of a problem and got right through and had no issues at all. 20 minutes on the phone and parts were on the way. He did tell me that they had improved their main board to fix a few issues.

Re: DPI 48-V golf cart batt charger
I got to the tech support and they were very helpful. Here's what the manual says about the chargers maintenance:
7.5. RECYCLE CHARGE STAGE FIVE 7.5.1. Only after the completion of Stage 4, and after 14 days of time has elapsed, AND if the battery voltage falls below 48Vdc, the charger will reset itself; thereby automatically initiating a new charge cycle routine and restoring battery to full capacity. So....yes, it has a maintenance feature. I've uploaded the manual that DPI sent me. You can read all about it. Edit: Interesting to note that I purchased this cart from a builder. When I replaced the batteries (went form 6 8-V to 8 6-V) I never changed the charge settings in the charger. Perhaps that's why I got 6 years from my T-105's? And those T-105's would have likely lasted through this winter. Shorter trips.....but still...... |

Re: DPI 48-V golf cart batt charger
Thanks for checking this out sir. This one has a maintenance mode but not float. My current one has that feature so at this time I will pass even though it is a really good deal. It would definitely be an upgrade over the factory charger.

Re: DPI 48-V golf cart batt charger
Not a problem. It's cared for my batteries and extended their useful life. I figure for the price, if someone needs a real cart charger, this would fit the bill.
