That plug is usually only for 36v chargers so you’d have to find a charger and change the plug, most likely.

Probably easier to change out the socket on the cart

Nothing wrong with using the 2 blade 36v receptacle for 48 volts. 48v charges at lower amperage than 36 and amperage is what counts when rating the duty of conductors.
A few companies make this charger. Lester makes a smart 36 or 48 volt charger called the Summit 2 in 650w or commercial duty 1050w. Both chargers fit the Crow foot cordset available.
I believe DPI still makes one, too.
Do not choose a 48v Club Car charger as that is a DUMB charger. It has no control board and it works with the CC on board computers. Hope this helps

Those are great to have around but not easy to find. I know the Chinese FairPlay carts use that charger with a crows foot plug, but it’s not very common.

wasnt aware they had them..
Ill have to look around,
Im just really not sure how i would put a different receptacle on the cart when it only uses 2 wires and not 3?

Don’t use any of the three wire plugs. They are typically associated with Powerdrive chargers that require an OBC in the cart. I’d just find a 48V standalone charger and switch the plug. They are easy to find.

Wiring is no issue. Just use the two that you need. But a different receptacle would probably need a larger hole cut out to fit, and that starts to become more work than it's probably worth.

If your friend already has a crow foot plug on his current charger, just remove the charger cord from his charger, and swap it onto the new charger.
If you don't have one already they are inexpensive to buy and at least IMO, easy to install onto almost any charger.

Like ScottyB said, keep in mind that you do NOT want any Club Car branded or PowerDrive model charger because those will require the OBC that Club Car used. But you can likely use some of the chargers that EZGo and Yamaha used in their older carts.

The new Summit series chargers are great and cost less than a new ferroresonant transformer style charger. They're a great option if your friend is "techy".
