I would guess it's about 10:1 or 11:1 ratio.

Thumbs up Re: Medium Speed Gears

I have a 97 EZGO with stock electric motor (2.5hp I think), 25" tires, 5" lift. It is plenty fast (more than I need) but slow on hills, heats up: lacks torque. I had a 400 amp controller and big wires put on it that helped a lot but it's still just geared too high with those 25's for the rpms of the motor. I don't really want to drop 500-600 bucks on a motor so I thought about just gear change: You think 8:1 would do it?
I would guess my flat speed now at 18-20; what do you think these gears would put it at? 14 or so? Isn't that about factory speed?

Thanks,
Billy

These gears would speed you up. Removing torque, not gaining.

You need low speed gears. Or, a motor with more torque than RPM.

OKI don't know anything about gearing but maybe you can answer this one...

I have a 97 txt gas
24 HP honda
4500 RPM
22" tires
GPS is 27 MPH.

What will the 8:1's do for this. and/or will they fit. I am looking for a minimum of 35 for our new golf cart law.

8:1's will give a 33% increase in speed over 12* to 1's. (that doesn't includes losses, thats just the math.) Don't forget you'll loose low end but you should have plenty.

Good price on the gears, wish I had one for them to fit.

Do they allow carts to drive 35 mph on the road? Which state?
