need 48 volt charger
I need a 48 volt charger, one that will work with an e-z-go. I have a Powerwise 36 volt charger that I will trade for one. (I have heard that a club car charger will only work with club car carts). If anyone is interested, let me know, if the 48 chargers are worth more $$, I will work it out with you. I think I can ship it for $25 or less.

Re: need 48 volt charger
You would be better off purchasing a 48V charger designed for a Yamaha than for a Club Car. The reason for this is the fact that the Yamaha charger will have a built in timer. The Club Car one is set up for an On-Board computer located on the vehicle itself. It won't have a timer at all in the charger.

Re: need 48 volt charger
Sadly, not many people are looking to downgrade on their chargers. Everyone wants the 48 volts for the extra 12 volts. You would have better luck selling the 36 volt on ebay or here and buying a 48 volt. 48 volt charger generally cost MORE than a 36 volt. I've got a new parts guy now who gives me awesome deals. I picked one up for $125.

Re: need 48 volt charger
check on ebay for a LSV or LVS 48v charger, can't remember which one it's called, but you can get one for about $260 shipped and it'll charge either a 36v or 48v cart. This is the one I got when I converted my TXT to 48v and haven't had any trouble out of it in over a year.

Yea, thats the LVS sales chager. I've heard they work pretty good and they do double duty. I dont think they put ot as many amps as a regular charger though.

Re: need 48 volt charger
you're right roady...only about 12 or 14 amps. But works great for me, ride the cart all day and plug in the charger at night. It'll shut off when fully charged.

Re: need 48 volt charger
Great charger for the money. Haven't heard any bad about them...not sure if the lower amps is an issue. It MIGHT take a little longer to bring the batts back up from completely deal but other than that I dont see a problem with them. Most other 48 volters are 17-20 amps.

Re: need 48 volt charger
Thanks, guys, have you both converted an ezgo to 48 volts? I have a 2002 club car DS with regen (completely stock) that I bought before I found the ezgo series cart that you see to the left. The club car is 48 volt, and has more torque & speed that the ezgo. I was planning to use 6 8 volt batteries instead of 8 6 volt batteries due to the xtra weight. How did you guys do it? Will I need a 48 volt solenoid? Will my controller work until I can get a new one? ( I want an Alltrax 400 or 500)

Re: need 48 volt charger
not sure about changing the controller kdeerman. I purchased a speed and torque motor and it came with a new controller and heavy duty forward and reverse switch but as far as the solenoid goes, I'm still running the 36v solenoid. I'm running 6-8 volt Trojan 875's and my cart smokes my buddies 48v club car from a dead stop, rolling start and climbing hills. He can't stand it!!!

Re: need 48 volt charger
Which speed and torque motor did you purchase? How much did the batts cost you?
Thanks |
