On-board chargers (72v and 12v), 12v batteries under cowl, instruments and old 22" vs 26" tire side by side.

I've been asked about the batteries, so here is more info on them and their history.
They are Enersys Powersafe SBS 30 batteries. http://www.enersysreservepower.com/p...d=88&brandID=1 Performance spec here: http://www.enersysreservepower.com/d...S-004_0610.pdf Enersys makes the Odyssey series batteries so they are closely related I'm sure. The batteries are take-offs from corporate jets main battery packs and are two years old. The FAA makes us replace the packs per regulation no matter if they are still good or not for safety. The aircrafts main batteries supply power to emergency systems in the event of power failure. All batteries in the cart test good and the 12 spare batteries test good as well. Enersys says they are good for up to 2 years storage, longer if maintained. I retained the original battery tray so it would be very possible to go back to the flooded lead acid batteries at anytime. |

Stretch,
With the stock 36v motor and 22" tires it did 26mph. The motor ran a little warm at 72v though and I mostly ride trails with the cart so I ordered a custom 72v D&D torque motor then upgraded tires to 26" at the same time. Now the cart only does 21mph but it has crazy torque doing it. I can lift the front on takeoff if I want. If you were to put the stock motor back on I calculate it will hit 31mph. I still have the stock motor too. |
