Default WTB Generac/Dixie Chopper Charging System

I purchased a couple Generac GT990 complete engines from Lurch here on the forum.

I've since found that they don't have a charging system and since I'm installing one in a cart I need one.

I'm also told that the charging system from a 990 or a 760 will fit.

I need to find one to fit the engine.

I already have everything else I need to install and get a cart running with this setup so only need this to get the engine together and get started setting this up in a new home/cart.

Any help is appreciated.

Hey Dawg I was just going to put a GM Alt. on it and run it from either side of the crank. There's several post on here about doing that. I did not look for a used charging system but a new one is crazy high. One of the guys that have the genarac on here used the Atl. and one bought a used genarac system. Wish you luck and I did think you new this, Sorry.

Lurch, I remember your mentioning it. It's not a problem and you have no reason to be sorry. You gave me a great deal on it and I'm more than happy with what I got from you. So no worries.

I'll have to take a look at possibly adding an alternator if I can't find the parts made for this motor.

I have however decided too purchase a new crank rather than trying to make the taper adapter work. I figure with the HP and torque this motor will put out that I'd rather be safe than sorry. Plus the straight crank is a little long which may allow for mounting a pulley for and alternator.
