Default 1976 de-40 go pedal linkage

Hey everybody. 1976 DE40. Running but I don't have a clue as to what the return mechanism is for the go pedal that goes to the wiper. Found schematics but does not show what I need. Is there some sort of spring at the pedal? Is the spring somewhere along the threaded rod (all missing except for the end) that travels somewhere from the pedal?

Just thought that before I fabricate something to make it work, somebody could clue me in on the factory setup, or even better, have a photo. Thanks!

on my 69de it was basically a long spring, just larger than the rod in diameter and about 3 inches long, over the accelerator rod under the unit. its just sandwiched between part of the frame and a washer being held by a small cotter pin in the rod.
its not the same model but i imagine its a similar system.
unfortunately i dont have the cart with me to take a photo but hopeful it helps.

if you find a place to get replacements let me know mine was rusted and broken in 4 pieces.

Thank you phil714. I have set this project aside for the time being but thanks for your info. Probably not hard to fabricate but I'd rather have factory setup. If I find the stuff I'll let you know thanks again.
