Diode across solenoid?
Is adding a flyback diode across solenoid coil necessary on 36v HD carts?

It is not necessary however I would recommend doing it as it is another way to protect the motor controller, just make sure you get the polarity correct.

The little micro switch on speed board is only vulnerable part I see and I did have to replace it last year. Figured it was just age but maybe flyback helped kill it (?).
Yep, figured to solder correct diode end (-) to the feed wire so direction can never be changed. ...thing is, this 12v coil (factory 6v) only has a 9v drop and around 900ma across it so is there even much of a flyback to be concerned with? |
