Default Delivered Mom's Harley today.....

Finally got the remaining stuff done on Mom's HD cart today and got it down to her house. I bought it for her a couple of months ago but of course have been to busy building mine to mess with hers much. She's 82 and is in good health but doesn't get around very well any more so the cart will be a blessing for her as we have moved her onto our street now and she has a ton of gardening/landscaping plans for the new place and a acre of land to transverse daily which she simply can not do on foot.

Anyway, it's about as original an old cart as you could ask for. Never been painted on even though some one has stuck some pinstripe stickers on it and it even had Mustang 5.0 emblem on each side which I quickly removed.

I transplanted 3 wheels and tires and the '09 Trojans out of my EZGO to it along with the cables connecting the batteries. I also put new brake pads on it and worked on some bad connections and such but basically it was a pretty good old cart. I had to tape up some cracks with some lovely color cordinated duct tape but these are even the original seats!

Some prior owner has primed the frame but it has almost no rust! Amazing for one of these carts.

Even most of the original troubleshooting sticker is still on the underside of the body. This is truly a barn fresh, original as the day is long old cart.

I bought her the Cragar S/S hub caps for her birthday. She was tickled with them and with the cart in general. Nice to see her smiling and checking every little thing to make sure it's all up to her liking. It's pretty cold here today so no driver's ed for today. I'm sure that showing her how to operate it will be quite the adventure!!! Our street is slightly sloped and the old cart ran 16 mph down hill and 13 mph up which irritated me completely since that is 1 mph faster both ways than mine.

I'm very happy that she has a way to get around now and the design of the HD will be super handy for her since she can use the back to transport all of her gardening supplies and tools. It sits pretty low which makes it easy for her to get in and out also. All in all, a God sent blessing for her.

Thanks for looking!!

Terry

Oh D, if you only knew. The guy that she is dating...if that's what you would call it...is like 67 because men her age can't keep up with her. Really. I'm just praying that she doesn't go to Wal-Mart on it! She doesn't see all that great and she stopped driving about 5 years ago. My only fear is that the cart might offer too much freedom!

What I need is one of those invisible dog fences for golf carts would make the cart stop running when she crossed the line.

Seriously...the invisible fence could work...just saying...Just a matter of getting the collar output to disable the master solenoid...FYI!

I don't think it is necessary, funny, but not necessary...

That is cool.. my mom will be 90 this year..she walks every day, and still drives..my brother lives with her in her own house..
She did volunteer a few times a week until she was 87 or so..
she has slowed down a bit..but still works around the house every day.

I am sure your mom really likes her toy !
