Re: For the wildlife guy's...
And the whole thing stems from the feeding of wildlife by well meaning tourists, like the guy of questionable IQ with the camera. A wild animal wouldn't come up to someone like that unless it had become dependent on the folks passing by on that road feeding it from their cars. Once the elk got to the backpack, he obviously was going after food smell and trying to get at something inside it. Many look at it as "Oh look honey, let's feed the baby elk" but in reality when winter comes and tourism drops and food gets scarce, some animals risk starving to death all because they have become dependent upon tourists from a young age. I have seen firsthand this impact on deer here in WV at our parks, most recently (a bit less than a month ago) it was a young doe literally walking up to cars and sticking her head right at the windows expecting the folks inside to feed her. I could count each and every one of her ribs, she was literally starving because of her dependency on tourists feeding her.

Here in Florida we have idiots feeding alligators. The gators will then associate humans with food and loose their natural fear of people. Once that happens the gator is considered a nuisance and has to be destroyed.

Re: For the wildlife guy's...
Years ago while vacationing in Yellowstone, I witnessed (from a distance)an elderly man carry his tripod/camera down to where a herd of buffalo was resting. He proceeded to set up his tripod within about 10 yards of a bull that was on its knees resting in the tall grass. Apparently, the photo wasn't good enough so the man proceeded to try to encourage the bull to get up. Well, the bull got up......and that was it.
Ridiculous how people are so stupid. |
