DaveTM - seems the 6.5 x 55 Swede is an often overlooked round. I always found it pretty versatile, especially hand rollin’ ammo.

Yup. I agree. Factory ammo is pretty anemic as the factory has to worry about the rounds going in early 1900 manufactured rifles. I have an original 1915 Swedish mauser and my loads for that are pretty mild. OTOH.....I would not want to be 400 yards down range being shot at with my 1915 mauser. That rifle is incredibly accurate for being over 100 years old!!!

Modern powders loaded to proper pressures will push the 140gr. 6.5 bullet a tad over 2,900-fps.....but only in modern action rifles.

Dave, I love the Mauser action. I have two sporterized Mausers. One is chambered in 35 Whelen and the other is 6.5x55. For the 35 Whelen I bought a short chambered Adams and Bennet barrel from Midway and finished the chamber myself on the lathe. I sent it out to Alhmans to have it coated and have them install a muzzle brake. I had someone do a tactical bolt handle on it too. The 6.5x55 has a barrel from Brownells. Both my Mausers are upstate, but I'll look for some pics.

Okay, I found some pics. The top one is the 35 Whelen and the other one is the 6.5x55.
