I have to agree with this. We use atvs and have alot of motorized traffic on our land in the SC Lowcountry and we still see and kill plenty of deer. I have driven my old marathon daily around town the past month and have only managed to burn a half a tank of gas. My father in law has an 03 ezgo electric and it cant make it more than a few trips around the neighborhood without needing a charge and has left him stranded across town on more than one occasion. Further more I was recently responding to an incident "code 3" running lights and siren in my truck and still had a stupid doe run out in front of me and get hit ()*&^(*% !!! I think once the deer see you motoring around on your gasser a few times then they won't pay you much attention. On a side note.... I personally think all deer should die and every season I try and do my part to make that happen LOL :) (not to ruffle any activist feathers)

I don't use a cart for deer hunting but I do use a gator and I can drive at least 20 yards from them but I think that is because they are used to my father running the fences to check the property where I hunt on it year around.

i have drove within 25 yards of deer on more than one ocassion they seem to be intriged and usually wont run until you have been stopped for a few seconds staring at them.
also the gas cart is very good for chasing wild hogs in fields and catching them alive

sorry, but if you think that deer doesn't know you're there, just because you're in an electric cart, you're sorely mistaken. you're in their living room. they know you're there no matter what you're in. you can get as close in a gas, as you can an electric; probably closer. they associate vehicles with as not as much of a threat. they see something moving and it's not making much noise, and they're going to be much more alert. i've pretty much driven right up on them before in a gas cart.

to them, it's about what isn't normal. fumes are not an issue, if they associate it with a vehicle.

there are deer across the street from my house all the time. if i walk out to get the mail, they just look and keep eating. however, they saw the neighbor come out of the woods to fix the fence, and he was 4 times further away than i was, and they took off.

I drive my gas golf cart to within a couple hundred yards of my tree stand. The farmer drives his four wheeler everywhere on the farm and they are used to him. I could drive closer to my tree stand without worrying about scaring the deer but I always park it under the powerlines tower out of habit. I had an electric golf cart for hunting but it was a pain. Driving through the mud really took a toll on the battery charge and I have had to push it or had my dad get out of the cart because it didn't have enough charge to get us back. My G1 gas golf cart is awesome.. Love it and will never have another electric cart.
