Default lets see some carts using atv shocks upfront!

looking for ideas for my ez go golf cart getting rid of the oem front shocks in the next couple of weeks will be selling off my old parts then making the move onto the upgrades .. as of now I have installed Polaris 700 rear shocks which the ride amazing with and without extra people.. but in the front I have a set of homemade "lift blocks" that the previous owner made and put on and stock shocks which with the upgraded clone motor in the cart the bumps get pretty rough to say the least doing 20-30mph in dirt.

We use to use these a-arms on our race quads. Shock technology is totally changed over the years.

Problem with the EZGO is the design of the front suspension. You'll really need a double a arm setup in front to get a major improvement. Not much you can do with those leaf springs.

If you were going to build an electric 2 wheel drive, off road golf cart with a 6 inch lift, and your goal was to have a stable, nice riding hunting buggy, which make and model would you start with?

Honestly....a Yamaha G22 because of parts availability and price. Check with Plowman's, he builds Yamaha hunting buggies, not sure if he does electric or not. The Yamaha's have the best stock suspension IMO, and have the best built tube steel frame, very strong. Buy the newest, best condition cart you can afford.

yes very true i have looked and looked with no luck wish i could find a jakes kit used some where .. but in the mean time since i do not have that option i my carts shocks are from 1996 lol and after taking them off the rebound is almost shot. so any type of shock will be an improvement!. I'm thinking polaris predator 500 shocks which are fox so that should help

Nate, please update with the thread when you get it figured out on the fronts. Also, can you post a couple pics and a brief write up of the rear install? For once in a new hobby, I'm trying to do the learning before the buying. Just this on once.

I had Polaris Predator shocks on the front of my Jake's longtravel lifted ezgo. Very nice shocks and fully adjustable. They worked great and gave an outstanding ride. Search eBay for Fox Podium shocks.

What all was involved in that front end? Looks great. Did the Jake's longtravel lift bolt on/ replace existing front suspension, or was there fabricating involved in getting that good-looking thing put together?

I'm new to the game here, and just figured out that Yamaha doesn't make electric carts. I assume converting a gas Yamaha to electric would not be a great idea for a rookie straight out of the box.
