Default Tires and Wheels with 6" Lift

I have taken the dive into the lift kit world. It's going to be a 6" A-Arm lift for my CC DS. My question is about wheels and tires. The stock wheels are 8" correct? What size tires will fit with this lift? 20,22? Do they make these sizes that fit a 8" rim? One last question is about how tire sizes are labeled. For example 20X10X10. Is that 20" tall, 10" wide, 10" from rim to edge?

Stock is 8" wheels.
They do make tires to fit 8" wheels in 20" & 22" tall
You may have to use 8" rims with offset to fit a lift
20/10/10 = 20" tall, 10" wide tires, 10" rims
22" fits a 6" lift & possibly 23" tall tires

I know they do make 20" and probably 22" tires to fit the factory 8" rim; however, unless you install wheel spacers, I wouldn't use the factory rims because the tires may rub when you turn. Most people just get rims that have an offset to accommodate this.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm glad to know what the three numbers represent; that'll help with my search.

I don't want anything fancy, where can one buy 10" rims and tires? Only golf cart shops, or do other places carry them?

Any site sponsor has them. Even ebay as well. I got mine from right here, you never know when a deal might pop up here

Yep, what Nick said. I have an oddball size on my cart, 20.5x9x10. I wish they were slightly wider and taller. 22 inches tall is the sweet spot on height for a 6 inch lift, not too short and not too tall. stock tires are 18 inches tall. 10 or 11 inches wide is a good width too, stock is 8.5 inches wide. As for wheel diameter, remember that the more sidewall generally the better the ride - while 12 or 14 inch wheels are really cool looking, they tend to make a cart ride rougher than a 10 inch wheel. Look up the term "backspacing" (also called offset) as it applies to wheels - that is extremely important in determining if tires will rub, and whether or not you'll need wheel spacers. Google can explain it better than I can, which is why I say look it up.

A heads up on 10" rims. I'm finding that not all 10" wheels will work with disc brakes. If disc brakes might be in this cart's future, you might want to check the clearance specs needed. With a 6" lift you might be better off with 12" wheels.

If you haven't bought the lift kit yet, some places will make you a better deal if you buy the lift kit / tires & wheel combo vs buying the lift kit and wheels/tire separately. Just a thought. May save on shipping as well.
