Default G1 flipping spindles for hi steer?

Hey guys im in the middle of a fabricated 8" lift. I have lift all fabricated up so far i did 8" lift pushed front axle out 2" and widened them 2.5" each side for a overall 5" wider stance. I relocated the shock mounts on A arms and frame so i have plenty of clearance for a hi steer i am wonder if any body has turned spindles over and switched sides so steering arm is on top will that change any angles or am i better leaving spindles the way they are and fabricating steering arms for top of spindles and welding them on? Sorry if this question has been asked before i been doin some readin and it kinda got me thinkin it may change my camber or caster by swaping sides

Yes, it's been done. Here's a pic.

How did you deal with the camber built into the spindle bracket?
Did you just adjust it with the new shocks?

That's a good question. This actually isn't my G1, it belongs to a friend of mine. I believe after he swapped sides he cut the top part of the spindle bracket off and made the adjustment, then welded it. If you look at the picture closely you can see where it was cut and welded.

Yep, I turned mine over and switched sides. But I still had too install a spacer between the top/bottom of the spindle and the steering arm. But when you do that, it does add more than you would think to the height. I started out building a 6" lift and once I flipped my spindles and adjusted for camber I had about 12" of final lift. The floorboard of my cart is now 21" from the ground.

I had never built a lift for a cart, or anything for that matter, and wasn't sure where I'd want my shocks mounted or where to set the mount. So I actually made my mounts adjustable at the top and then adjusted for the camber with the adjustment.

Here is how my adjustment works!

Here is a picture of my spindle flipped with the spacer!

Take a look at the entire build and you'll see how I extended my steering arms as well.

G1 Build!

Lets see pictures of what you have so far.

Hey that's Steve's cart! I was in that garage with him the day he fired it up after the rebuild. Smoked the neighborhood!

That's correct Andy. He hasn't visited this site in a long time. Everytime I see him cruising his G1 around the campground I think about the great job he did restoring that cart.
