Angry Allsports 6" Lift Front Leaf Spring Issue (Pics)

Hey guys, I have been running my 6" double A-arm lift kit on my '87 gas Club Car for almost two years now and it's been great. I'm having a relatively minor issue with the front leaf springs, specifically the centering bolt that keeps the top (smaller) leaf spring in place. It keeps breaking, which allows the top leaf to shift all over the place. And it's not easily replaced because of the way Allsports designed their lower control arms (see photos). Allsports, if you're trolling this forum...pay attention!

I'm sick of tearing down the front suspension just to replace this stupid bolt so I'm just thinking now that I'll just take the top spring out completely and be done with it. It doesn't seem like there's a ton of weight on the front end, and it may even make the ride more comfortable (I'm not hard on the cart). Has anyone ever had this issue and decided they could do without the top front leaf spring?

How many lines are on the bolt head?

I hadn't looked. I suppose I could get a super strong bolt and it may stay put. But I was more intrigued by maybe just doing away with the top leaf and was wondering if anyone has done it.

I remove the top leaf on one of the cheap 6 inch a arm lift kits.
I think I learned it from streetblues build thread. (sorry about the name spelling)

id get a piece of flat bar ,bend it into a U shaped around the leaf springs get a wide enough piece to run 2 bolts through and get you a grade 8 bolt from the hardware store and or possibly drill out that hole a little bigger to run a larger bolt still using grade 8 should hold up

Take the leaf out! (unless you feel that you need it)

I've got a new Madjax 3 1/2" a-arm ready to go on my cart... and that leaf will be gone before installing it!

Very nice. Thanks. I'll take it out and give it a try. With that top leaf removed I may even be able to sneak a nut in there over the lower control arm mounts in order to fix the bolt back in there.

I've removed the short leaf out of the front on my cheapie 6" A-arm lift and the ride is better plus the front end articulates more!!!

If for some reason that doesnt work and you need to leave it there, you could use a grade 8 bolt and nut that shouldn't break.

Springbok, remove both front springs and use the factory front leaf. The ride will be MUCH better. I detailed how to in my build.
