Default Will braking performance be affected with 6" lift and 23" tires?

Hello,

I am new to the site (as you can see this is my first post ) and just bought a 2011 Electric Club Car.

This car comes with the HD Rear springs and I am planning on adding a rear seat and 6" Jakes Spindle Lift with 22" or 23" tires.

I have been told that the weight of the large tires can affect braking performance. Is this true and if so, how much will it affect the performance?

This cart will primarily be used at the lake mostly on gravel/asphalt roads with some light off-roading and moderate hills.

I have done a fair amount of searching with the search tool, but am not finding a ton of information around this question. But, I do see a lot of you guys are running 22/23 and higher tire/wheel sets.

Should this affect which wheels/tires I get? Or do I just get the 23's like I want and worry about additional braking options afterward?

Thanks,

My dang fat fingers. The title was supposed to be "Will braking performance be affected with 6" lift and 23" tires?

I don't see a way to fix it unless I am missing something or don't have access because I am a noob.

Yes. The larger diameter tire will be heavier and it will require more force to stop it.

you will loose stopping power. The same way you will gain some speed with larger tires and lose some torque. It works the same with brakes, increase the diameter of the tire and the force required to stop the vehicle increases.

I recently went to 25' tires and the stock ezgo brakes have to go. They hardly stop at all. I am headed to the junk yard in the morning to look for a better solution.

My car is programmed for 19.2. But, that is plenty fast for me. So, I am not sure how much this will affect me. I guess I can put the lift and tires on and see how it goes. Then, if need be try to look at better braking options.

What is the most popular option for improving brake performance? Or are there a pretty wide range of possible options?

Since the cart doesn't realize what size tired are on it you will gain speed because it basically has an axle governor. Faster speed. More brakes needed. Stock brakes in good condition should do fine tho.

Thanks everyone!

Since my 2011 is "relatively" new, I think my plan will be to go with the 14/7 23's that I want and see how the braking goes. Then I can look at brake upgrade options later if need be.

Just so I have an idea on how much that this may cost, can you guys comment on the most popular options for improving brake performance?

Or are there a pretty wide range of possible options that all have their place?

How tough are they to install?

Currently this is the best price on the most popular brake upgrade. These cable operated disc brakes are a bolt on kit. Go Here > http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Hi_Per...ce_Brakes.html
