Default Switching out wheels and tires

I have a set of 22X11-10 tires on Douglas wheels. Long story short, I need to swap two of them over to a different set of rims. Is that something I could do myself, or will I be better of taking them to my local tire shop? I would also need to swap over the valve stems. I'm wondering if I can deflate them and squish them off and on the new rims.

Jake, it can be done easy enough. I've changed many by hand. Also motorcycle tires.

They can be a pain, but once you figure out how it's pretty easy. Main thing is breaking down the bead to get started.

My suggestion, go to Harbor Freight and purchase This! or This!

I actually have the second one. Got it from my mom after my dad passed. It's cheap made, but I removed a 25" tire from my side by side and patched it.

I used it mostly to break the bead and too hold the rim so I could remove the tire from it.

You can actually pull one off the rim with a couple tire spoons even.

Main thing is that when your taking it off and pulling the bead up and over the rim on one side too push the other side down to the deeper part of the rim so the entire bead can slide up and over the rim and too do the same when putting the tire back on.

But, having something to hold the rim still while your doing this helps a lot.

Or, you can just buy new tires and wheels and I'll come get those others out of your way.

Thanks for the input Steve! I think I'll at least try it. The links are for the same product, did you mean for them to be different?

Funny you say that, this rim I've got coming from a guy off CL has a Carlisle tire on it with less aggressive tread. If I like it, I may get three more of them. You're still first on the list if I decide to sell them!

What Carlisle tire is it on the rim your getting? How's the cart coming anyway? If I can be of any help with any welding or such, give me a holler.

I'll actually be in Springfield on Friday. Wife has one of her monthly treatments up there so I'll be bringing her up.

I noticed it after I posted the message. You must have read it while I was changing it.

Again, the second one is the one I got that my dad had. It works to break the bead pretty well and holds the tire so you can change it. I can't say much about the tool comes with it though. Of course I've only used it once on my ATV tire. I did also use it to hold the wheel on my motorcycle so that I could change the tire on it too. It works good for the price.

I don't remember the name, it is a turf tire I believe. It should be here Friday. I appreciate that offer, and I'll take you up on it if I come across something that may need welded. What all can you weld, steel, aluminum?
It's a slow process, I've been so busy lately. Maybe sometime you can come by when I am home and check out the cart. I've still got your number.

That is a good price for sure. I think I'll try manhandling it first, and if I can't get it then maybe try that tool. It would be something that's good to have around for sure...

Breaking the bead will be the hardest part. There are a few ways it can be done and I'm sure you'll figure it out. For the price, it's a good tool to have around for sure.

I hope to come check it out sometime. But I usually only get up there during the week.

As for the welding, only welding I can do now is steel and plastic.

I have the first of those 2 changers and it is not perfect but it works. You have to be careful not to scratch a rim but it does work. Guess I need to invest in some spoons.
