Default Towing Cart - No Trailer

I have searched and searched but cannot find any reference to actually towing an electric cart behind a truck without using a trailer. Maybe I'm just slow and kind of cheap but I don't want to drop another $1000 on a trailer if I do not have to do so. My cart is primarily for hunting. Hunting property is about 15 - 20 minutes away. The truck bed is not full size = too short to load on bed and steep ramps aren't my idea of fun. So the question is:
Is it possible / advisable to actually tow an electric cart behind the truck for this relatively short distance?
They say there is no such thing as a stupid question but I have a feeling I may regret showing my ignorance on this one. Lock and load....

There are stupid questions, they are the ones not asked, so yours doesn't fall in that category. As long as you don't exceed 20 mph you will be fine, but I'm guessing you don't want to go that slow. Anything above that will overspin the motor armature which will cause the motor to 'grenade'.

By the way this is the subject in question except it also now has a fold out rear seat (and of course projecting foot rest).

I'd say, don't do it. Even if towing it didn't damage it, the extra wear to parts including bearings and tires would add up.

If it were me, I'd search Craigslist. A used trailer big enough to haul your cart can be had in most areas for between $200 and $500. I'd do some searching and come up with one that way. Besides, then you'll have it too use for other things as well. A trailer is a nice thing to have around.

What about using a tow dolly with the rear wheels on the dolly so that the armature/gears aren't spinning? I don't know that I could find one any cheaper than a 5x8 trailer even if it would work.

I think I can find something workable for around $500 (trailer-wise) Considering what I just dropped on this cart (even used) I guess it wouldn't be smart to cheap out now.

I bought a 5X8 trailer for my first cart back in 09. Now I don't know what I'd do without it. I've gotten my money's worth out of it and then some.

Harbor Freight sells a 4 X 8 trailer with a 1100lb weight limit for less than $300 but needs a floor so all said and done, less than $350 for a brand new trailer. Would I use it to haul from Florida to Washington State, no but good for short trips..

NO. Absolutely do not tow the golf cart behind the truck. It has wheel bearings designed for 18" tires and 12 mph. It's not safe.
