Default A call out for help

I had a veteran with ALS wanting to buy my golf cart today, He is in a wheelchair with no use of his legs, and is wanting to be able to get down to the river to go fishing this summer because he didn't know if he would be able to next summer. I couldn't sell him my cart because I don't feel it is what he needs. I am going to build him a cart free of labor and all parts that I have and can gather for free. He is wanting a gas 4 stroke engine, selectable 4x4, reverse is a must, and to be able to go down the road at 30 MPH. I have a cart that I was going to use on another build, but I can use it if I have to. What I would like to find is a 4 wheeled cart. To build my cart for him I will need a different rear end or a tranny to use on the one I have, an engine, windshield, and off road tires to go on an 8 in rim. I am sure that there are several more parts that I haven't thought about yet. I am going to go through my parts pile now to see if I have everything I think I have and start planning and making some phone calls. He said that he is wanting me to keep the cost less then $1500, but if this is the only summer he will be able to use it, I'd like to keep the cost at half that at most and free if possible. I will add a retractable roof to keep it out of the way of his fishing pole and an electric parking break. I have a lot of planning to do and parts to pull out, so If you would like to help with any of this, just reply or even call. I am in central time zone, my wife works second shift so please no calls before noon and after midnight. My # is 785-427-7457

How are you going to do 4x4 in a cart for less than $1500? I'm sure it can and has been done, using an ATV, but I doubt for less than that amount.

It's a nice idea but I think it can't be done for the money.

If I have to I will strip parts out of my 500cc 4x4 project, but I am determined to get this guy what he needs to do what he loves to do for as long as he can, I know that the actual cost of the cart will be way past the $1500 but I am not charging for any of the parts that I have. I have the front end covered, the main things I am looking for is a rear end out of a 4 stroke cart that has reverse on it. and an engine. I made a call after posting and I might have a 94 ez-go that had a twin cylinder 4 stroke that is setting in a pasture for $200. If the rear end is there, I will buy it, if not I will pass on it. If I can even keep it under $500 out of my pocket, I will give it to him for free.

If I have to I will outfit my 500cc 4x4 build for him to use as long as he can and get it back when he's done.

Does the engine need ringed or a total rebuild?

Do you work in Salina? I believe you said that the last time we talked.

I think just rings. It runs but compression was really low

I usually work around Mcpherson, but get a lot of my materials in salina

Today, I ran up to lawrence to see my son

Not sure.. I'm putting a clone in now, and may need some linkage parts off it

Does the pasture find have an engine?
