Tracked cart
I finally got started on the cart for the veteran in a wheelchair with ALS. I have cut the sidewalls out of the tractor tires, and I have the majority of the parts in the shop ready for me to start building this weekend, depending on the weather. I am anxious to see how this cart will turn out.

Re: Tracked cart
Here is a pic of the tires that will be the tracks, and one of the seat I will most likely use for the build unless I can find another one. I am hopping to get a chance to go to the salvage yard and get some bucket seats out of an small car. I also have to decide on which cart I will use for this build, I was planning to use one of the gray carts I picked up but the rear end has a catch in it and the brakes are rusted solid. I have an old three wheeled cart that I was going to use for another project, but it would be easier and faster to set up for the tracks. I will post more pic's as I go along.
I still need to find either a drive pulley for a 1" keyed shaft or a chain drive centrifugal clutch, or if there is someone out there who can machine an adapter. So far I have stayed within my budget to give this cart to the VET. Last edited by knkyle; 07-14-2015 at 06:04 PM.. Reason: forgot pics |

Re: Tracked cart
Yes on the brakes, I will know more when I start building but the plan is to have two levers coming up from the floor hooked to the brake cables for each wheel with a handle bar on each side, a thumb throttle and a brake handle for a parking brake. I have three different plans going through my head, so nothing is finalized until I start building. I will try to have more pic's on this build then I did on the red big-EZ build
