Default Controller mounting

I plan to do a conversion of my resistor cart to a solid state cart very soon. I'm trying to get an idea of where I need to mount the controller. I use my cart for hunting and working. It gets used and abused. It gets muddy. It's gets wet. I occasionally rinse it off. Where have you located your controller and how do you protect it from getting wet?

If you are inventing your own conversion you can mount the components anywhere you like. The high and dryer the better. There is space above the axle behind the seat. You may have to add some support. I have done this for TXT before.

ScottyB, as soon as the wife is ok with it, I'm coming to you! I have a marathon and I'm going to get a conversion kit. I was thinking of fabbing a box of some sort. Don't know of I want to go behind the seat in the battery bay or outside. Just trying to get a feel for a good place. How much ventilation does a controller need?

The conversion kit for the Marathon provides all of the mounting structure you need. The structure is a drop in bolt down unit that houses the controller, solenoid, and potentiometer. It mounts between the batteries on the braces, in the holes that are already there.

The batteries will block most of the splashing there. I may have to fab some kind of shield. Have customers had any problems in the past?
