Default Marathon build

Well first off I will preface this with the fact that this is my first golf cart build. I originally bought anew electric marathon and got it going but it needs new batteries and the cart was pretty ruff. I stumbled across a couple of incomplete marathons for 250. One had a very straight body and pretty solid chassis. From there it has grown into a full on build. I stripped it down to the frame, cut out all the battery trays and obtained a workhorse rear axle. The plan is to link the rear with suzuki Z400 front shocks I had and droput a clone in it. 6" or so of lift and 23" tires. This thread will document my project from start to finish. The end use will be a pavement queen. Use it mostly to mess around with around the neighborhood and tailgating.

Progress so far. Not much but I'm finally working towards getting things mocked up. There is a little rust damage that needs to be taken care of but it's not a real big deal.

Good luck with your build! Once you have the bug it's hard to lose 😂.

Lasthma build was a mild rock crawler so this seems a little more straight forward but it will probably get out of control. I have a bad habit of doing that!

Basically planning to link and coil over the rear with Suzuki Z400 front shocks. Front already has 2001+ TXT springs on it. Going with a 5" drop axle lift as well. Planning on fabing up a custom drag link steering set up as well. 12" wheels with 23s, fresh paint on everything, clone engine and a roll bar that incorporates a rear seat, and custom bumper are the main plans.

Quick question for you more experienced guys. I've done hours of searing and seen pictures of about every linked rear end setup possible. Since I'm not really going for a full on long travel setup I was thinking about running the rear links to the front spring mount like the Fake's kit. My original plans were to run them up under the floor but then you have to work around the brake lines and all that good stuff. Anyone see any reason not to run the shorter links like the Jake's kit?

Got to do a little mock up last night with the 2001+ TXT front drop axle lift my brother is putting on his workhorse. I have 2001+ TXT front springs on the cart as well and amazingly enough everything bolted up nicely without any modification. I will probably shorten the front springs a hair because the cart is LONG. TXT tie rod should be fine and I'm still not exactly sure how I want to do the steering but I have a few option. Tires in mock up are 22s and the front end is a 4" lift. I will be going with a 5" lift and 23s but its nice to get a feel for what its going to resemble!

Don't know if I would shorten the front springs. They kinda cool looking kicked out. Or the mock up is of the shortened springs? Here's my pile: My cart has a Honda 300ex IFS under it, so I had to kick my wheels out a tad.
