Double a arm vs long travel
Bought a G2 a few weeks back with a 3" lift kit. I want to go to a 7" kit. I want to go LT but that is twice the coin. The cart will not be well secured for the usable season so I don't want to spend a ton,but I also tend to over build anything I do. The cart won't be doing hard core terrain just mild hills and asphalt at a boat/camping club.
So I guess my question is, should I spend $600 on LT or Save $300+ and use a double A arm? |

Re: Double a arm vs long travel
I'm not an expert but if all you have is small hill and asphalt, even a spindle lift would be sufficient I would think. I'm about to lift my DS and I chose a 4" Super Sport A-arm. I would have gone spindle but I could find a decent 4" spindle. they were either 3" or 6".
So unless you've got extra coin to spend and get a LT just because you want it and not because you need it, I'd go A-arm. |

I stayed with an a arm. Ran it for a year and it was a rough ride but I dealt with it. Added a long travel this fall and the handling is night and day. Especially on anything off-road including not so level trails. A arm was like a bucking horse on some trails.
I wish I would have spent the extra money first. So if you have the coin that would be my suggestion |

Re: Double a arm vs long travel
If you just don't see yourself using the cart for serious off road stuff I would go with a double a arm and avoid a spindle lift as from what I've read they just don't steer well at all...

Re: Double a arm vs long travel
Save your money! The LT is great for big time off roading. I'm very pleased with my double a arm lift. I did however add 2" wheel spacers to widen the stance front and rear. My G2 handles very good and is stable.

Re: Double a arm vs long travel
For a yamaha double arm lifts improve suspension action some, LT lifts do more and go closer to an atv. Spindle lifts don't do much other than lifting the cart up. So for a campground and low speeds spindle lifts are fine, if you want more and offroad some the double arm is better and rides better (especially if you fit other shocks), and gets rid of camber issues. If you off road a lot or want the best ride the LT lifts increase travel and add a lot more capability to the cart, if they come with shocks they are significantly better than lifts that don't (or you can change shocks later with LT and realize more). The faster you intend to go the more you will want a better lift, though this is more true off road.
So you really need to ***** how you will use the cart, and what your budget is. The nice part is you likely will never wear it out and have it for long as you have that cart, I say the same thing about wheels....think twice as you will be stuck with them. It can be a great deal to spend 20% more and get what you want if that is the case. |

Re: Double a arm vs long travel
I think I will run what I got for awhile to see if it is good enough. I know I don't NEED a taller lift, but I won't be surprised with my self if I go taller.
Thank you to all who replied. |
