Shocks Causing Tire Wear
Hi All,
I have a Yamaha 2008 G22 with a Jake's lift kit and a rear seat. I replaced the rear springs with HD ones. The problem is the front tire wear on the inside is brutal, I have to constantly rotate the tires to get any life out of them. I noticed that if I pick the front of the cart up and set it back down the tires orientation to the ground is perfect but when you sit in it and drive it the tires roll on the inside edge causing major wear. Toe in and Out seems fine. Is it a shock issue? Do they make a HD type shock for the front. Any help is appreciated. |

Re: Shocks Causing Tire Wear
What pressure do you have them set at? Same for front and back?
Which Jakes lift did you use? |

Re: Shocks Causing Tire Wear
Unfortunately I don't know the lift kit that I have, I wont see the cart again until spring.
I ran the same air pressure all the way around and the rear tires are fine its only the front that wear on the inside edge. It seems when you sit in the cart the tire to pavement angle is not good as the top of the front wheels angle inward toward the cart therefore wearing the tires on the inside. That's why I thought maybe the shocks are to blame. Thanks |

Re: Shocks Causing Tire Wear
If your lift has camber adjust, you should be able to adjust it so that with weight on the cart the tires are right. Now w/o weight l l w/weight / \ Camber adjusted w/o weight \ / w/weight l l

Re: Shocks Causing Tire Wear
It is imperative that toe-in is set between 1/16 and 1/8 inch to start with. Then I put these on mine, "split shaft collers".

You have to make sure you don't run into "coil bind". That's where you have to measure the space between the coils of the spring, to make sure the coils don't come together and bottom out before the suspension does.

Re: Shocks Causing Tire Wear
Plowmans does this for around $50.00 if you send your shocks to him!!
Your suspension is different, so I'd discuss this with Don Plowman!! Oh, an-da, nice car Barry!! |
