Any ideas on camber alignment?
Ezgo txt gas (2001, don't have serial - sorry). Original owner doesn't n ow what lift is on it either... See pic.
Basically, bought the cart, got new tires on old wheels, put new tires on. Cart started to sway/float. I think it's the camber (looking from front of cart head on) looks like this | \ I exaggerated the tilt, but you get the idea as I think it should be like this / \ about 1/8 offset from floor to top of tire. I am not super mechanical so I wanted to put up a pic and see if anyone can point out where to mess with the camber on this lift. Note: the things that sits above the black shock in image has a locking nut that was loose and the center bar rotated. I think that's how the tires got out of alignment.... Looking for smart people input on which nobs to turn... Thanks Andy |

Re: Any ideas on camber alignment?
Your pictures are somewhat dark but the silver piece on top of the spindle on the drivers side in the first picture. There will be one on the passenger side also. I believe it is called the helm joint. You will have to remove the bolt that goes through it into the spindle to adjust it out some and then put the bolt back in the spindle. If it looks correct, move the nut to the frame to lock the helm joint. Also, adjust the toe in to the 1/8 in measurement you mentioned earlier. I don't believe the camber has a specific measurement to adjust to but the guys that know will chime in soon. I will post a picture of a way to measure the toe in.

Re: Any ideas on camber alignment?
I just put a lift on my cc in the directions it said to use a square and to square the tire to the floor the your front end should look like this. | |. If nothing else you would rather have your camber set out on top a slight bit \ / so when you sit on the cart it will level off to being straight | |

Re: Any ideas on camber alignment?
For these carts unless you're racing it you can run them straight up/down. adding camber for these things is kinda useless. That being said it is important that they match tire to tire or it will pull/float. as long as you're in there, set your alignment and toe in/out generally the rule of thumb is about 1/16-1/8" toe in. (front of the wheels closer to center than the back of the wheels)

Re: Any ideas on camber alignment?
Need a pic straight on to see camber.
Looks like double a arm so do not make postive \/ camber as camber should not change with tire movement. A few degrees of negative is ok but pretty much not needed. Do a full alignment on it |

Re: Any ideas on camber alignment?
Need a castor/camber gauge to get it perfect, but you should be able to eyeball it. The above poster is correct the rod on top of spindle with the heim joint is what adjusts camber. Longer you make it, the more you push top of tire out....the shorter you make it will pull top of tire in. Just loosen jam nut, run heim in or out to where you want camber and tighten jam nut back up.

Re: Any ideas on camber alignment?
Camber isn't usually adjustable, unless your suspension kit has an adjustable ball joint at the top and bottom of the spindle. It's hard to tell in your pics.
Camber on a double a arm suspension should be 0, straight up and down. Usually the camber is set at ride height, so that up swing and down swing is equal. If your shock preload adjusters are cranked all the way up, loosen them down all the way and set it on the ground. Stand on the front bumper a few times. Then measure the camber. Reset it to 0. Toe is set at between 0 and 1/8" toe in. I use long straight edges on the outer lip of the tires to set the toe. Measure from the straight edge to the center of the bumper to get a baseline. This isn't laser precise, but it's close enough for golf carts. LOL |

Once you get the camber that you are comfortable with, then adjust your toe settings. |
