Club car carryall 6 jakes lift install
Hi all I just got a 2004 club car carryall 6 from disney in Florida. The thing only has 6k hours on it (lol) but it runs great and doesn't drip a drop of anything. I did some research and ordered Jakes spindle 6" lift because it allowed me to retain my front brakes.
Well I installed the rear portion of the kit last night and my cart has... no... HAD a rear sway bar I had to remove to install the lift. Got the 23 x 10.5 x 12 wheels and tires for it. My question is did I buy the wrong kit? Or what is the deal? Will I be fine without the sway bar? Must be they added the sway bar in 04 because the packaging for the rear portion of the lift said up to 03. I contacted the seller and he assured me it was the right kit but that was before I knew it had a sway bar I would have to remove. The lift instructions do not show or mention the sway bar. Please let me know. Thanks! My lift kit is number 6233 we are able to drive them on the street here and I just want to make sure my family will be safe in it. I love this thing and plan to dump a pile of money in it. I paid 2500 plus 575 shipping for it then I dropped another 800 on the lift kit and tires. Just finished ordering severe duty belt new carb and fuel pump plus a tune up kit. I want it to be right. Thanks again Skoobyj |

Welcome to BGW Skooby!
Nah... With the limited research I did on your cart, you bought the right lift! BUT... it should have come from the factory with the stabilizer bar. I don't think it's too much of a safety issue without it! (unless your going around a turn doing 15 mph with 6 large adults on it!) Just be careful! |

Cool thanks!
I am going to install the front lift tonight. I am a little worried the 23's are going to rub though |

Well I installed the front lift and I have to say this thing is a monster now lol. I will throw some pics up soon. Not rubbing on frame but slightly rubs the body in the wheel well.

Did you get the wheelbase extension? I have a carryall 6 and I had to get the wheelbase extension to prevent severe tire rub. I don't have the part number right now but it is on Jakes website.
It will move everything forward up front and prevent that tire rub. Not everyone has to use it I think, but I did or I couldn't turn at all really. |

Re: Club car carryall 6 jakes lift install
I did not get the extention. I must have got lucky with the new wheels offset. I can turn all the way and only get minimal rub had 3 adults onboard today counting me. If it wears on my nerves I will get the extension but I will probably live without it.
On a side note my buddy has a stock 02 DS that he "had turned up" by a car mechanic and he gets to 17 mph and then the cart slows to 15 and charges back to 17 only to drop back to 15. That's a pain in the... I raced him today gave him a head start passed him and beat him by a mile. Now he has me ordering a lift and wheels/tires for his. Lol. I did not use my GPS today but with the stock wheels I did the other day and I got 15mph gotta be 22 to 25 now? Will check it with GPS tomorrow. |

And is it just me or does the lift firm up the suspension? Also seems like I have to push harder on the brake pedal. I did find a rear brake cable broken where it connects to the wheel. Anyone know that cables part number for the carryall 6 by chance? I ordered a pair of the front motor mounts because my Buddy's DS and my cart were both missing them completely. That must be a common thing?
Thanks! |

Re: Club car carryall 6 jakes lift install
Larger tires will make it seem that the the suspension is stiffer, it's kinda the nature of the beast.
And, Yes... Snubbers (front motor mounts) wear out, or come off randomly, especially with a lift! I got so frustrated loosing my snubber, that I used standard painters caulking to "sort of" glue it on. (I didn't want to use anything stronger then that in the event that I have to replace it in the future!) Here's an Illustrated Parts List for your cart! |

Awesome thanks for the parts list. I hit 22 mph and stayed there even up hill. Nice!
