1997 ezgo lift kit options
I am starting a project on this cart that will include a lift, limited slip differential, and AC motor upgrade. Goals are to make a more off-road capable cart while retaining its neighborhood manors. Nothing crazy off-road, just running around some hunting property.
My question is it worth the money for a long travel lift kit versus a normal lift. Also is there going to be any good reasons why I don't want to use my current 1197 cart. Are there any reasons to get a cart that is a little newer to start with? Thanks Foster |

Let me know how the ride quality is with this lift once you have it on, I have a 6" spindle on mine now and cannot stand the ride it bounces and goes everywhere it wants on its own! I have been debating on going drop axle or long travel. Would rather shell out 150 for a drop axle instead of 600 on a long travel!

Re: 1997 ezgo lift kit options
I will do. I actually have it on my counter now, it came in yesterday. I hope to install it this weekend. I have driven the cart enough now stock to tell if there is a difference but there shouldn't be...cause all the suspension is the same. Just moves the mounting points down 6 inches upfront and just swaps those rear springs and adds a block in back. Well I guess your rear won't change...just the front on yours.

I just bought this lift, 23s tires and rims from steeleng. I think its a great product, which I have nothing to compare to. When you install the risers for the ball joints take the cart riding a couple miles and retighten all bolts. Mine got loose and was all over the road.

How would you compare the ride quality? Does the cart bounce around much or feel a little squirrelly? Obviously it will be different than stock but does it feel solid?

The only difference with mine is the 23 inch all terrain tires. Roars on the road and eats my grass up lol.

Re: 1997 ezgo lift kit options
Just finished installing the steeleng 6" drop axle kit. Took about 2.5 hours. The only thing I would say it that they could tell you which bolts were used where so no guess work on which ones too reuse...but other than that not a big time waster or anything. I also wasted 5 to 10 mins looking for bolts cause I thought I didn't like how the ubolts would look bolts down...then I realized to install them thread up on the top side. I was worried they would hit body...then the though cane to me!!! The body is going to be 6"s higher...NO way it would ever hit anyway.. haha.
I took a ton of pics through the install. I will do a thread here soon about it. As far as ride quality it rides just like stock. Had more body roll but that's not the lifts fault. Well its is kind of but the higher center of gravity will naturally have more roll. That and the shocks are well worn. |
